East Troy Expo 2013 features new bridal fair and return of cupcake wars

East Troy Expo 2013, featuring a new bridal fair and return of cupcake wars, will take over the East Troy Middle School on March 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with 55 booths, kids activity area, blood drive, health fair, entertainments all day and lots of giveaways. Admission is free!

East Troy Farmers’ Market seeks vendors

The market will begin its fifth season in a new location on the grounds of Wild Flour Bakery, across from Frank’s Piggly Wiggly and on a new day and time, Fridays from May 24 through October 4 from 3-7 p.m. Vendor booths are available by the day for $15, by the quarter for $60 or for the entire season for $200. East Troy Bluegrass Festival
The sounds of Bluegrass music and the fans who love it have filled East Troy’s historic village square on the second weekend in September since 1994 for the Annual East Troy Bluegrass Festival. Save the date! The 2013 festival has been set for Saturday and Sunday, September 7 & 8.

A full line-up of Bluegrass bands and contests, plus lots of great food and East Troy Marketplace vendors, will take place from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. each day. Click on photo to read more.

East Troy Cycling Classic, June 21, 2013
The East Troy Area Chamber of Commerce, the Dennis and Janice Klumb Family Foundation, Inc. and the Midwest Cycling Series, LLC, the East Troy Cycling Classic will turn East Troy’s historic square into a professional cycling venue on Friday, June 21, 2013.
The event is part of the 11-day Tour of America’s Dairyland, set for June 22 – 30 in 11 Wisconsin communities.

            Thanks to contributions from area businesses, five lucky East Troy residents won raffle prizes at East Troy Expo 2013, presented by the East Troy Area Chamber of Commerce March 23.

            Judy Vandervest won the East Troy Health & Rec basket, containing items donated by Realty Executives-Integrity, Gus’s Drive-in, AKA Flying Dragons, Zinniker Family Farm, Cousins Subs, J. Lauber’s Ice Cream Parlor, Snap Fitness, Salvation Army-Army Lake Camp, East Troy Hometown Pharmacy, Southern Lakes Newspapers, Timber-lee Christian Center, East Troy Acupuncture, Barsamian Chiropractic, A’staisora Wellness Studio, Edwards YMCA Camp and Mukwonago Athletic Club.

East Troy Chamber of Commerce announces Cupcake Wars winners

            The 18 contestants in the 2nd Annual Cupcakes Wars at East Troy Expo 2013 impressed the judges with their baking expertise, creativity and adherence to the theme of “Spring into East Troy” during the contest on March 23.

            The judges chose Karlee Williamson of Mukwonago as the East Troy Expo 2013 Cupcake Wars adult champion with her entry of “Music in the Air,” which featured cupcakes topped with chocolate in the shape of notes and the bandstand on the grassy village square.

Eleven-year-old Brooke Schubert of East Troy was named the youth champion for her entry of “Blooming Spring,” which featured mini marshmallows, cut and dipped in colored sugars to create multi-color flower petals on the cupcakes.

Visitors to East Troy Expo 2013, sponsored by the East Troy Area Chamber of Commerce, each received plastic coins to vote for the fan favorite. A total of 363 votes were cast, with the fan favorite awards going to Jeri Davis of Burlington and Jenny Herrmann of Mukwonago.

            The champions each received an apron and a trophy, while the fan favorite award winners received cupcake dishes.

            Judges included Jane Thompson from the Red Door Café, Catelynn Strand from The Grist Mill and Dan Heidelmeier for the adult division and Gwen Braaten from Wild Flour Bakery & Café, Tina Strand from The Grist Mill and Nicholas John from Ivan’s Unique Dining on the Square for the youth division.
